The Young Roots programme is an innovative project to capture the oral history of the YMCA one of Scotland’s oldest youth organisations. Sharing the Past to Shape the Future uses an inter-generational approach, led by our young people from YMCAs across Scotland, capturing oral histories from across the nation.
YMCA Edinburgh aims to enable personal growth, development and renewal and help people make a positive contribution to their community.
Working in Leith, Edinburgh and East Lothian, YMCA Edinburgh is a community based charity which works with children, young people, families and adults to transform lives and bring lasting change to local communities. We operate from the Acorn Centre in Leith, premises owned by the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church (CEMC). The work of YMCA Edinburgh is recognised as an important part of the mission and outreach of CEMC and the Methodist Church in East Lothian. As a YMCA we are an ecumenical Christian organisation open to people of all faiths and none. We work closely with a range of church partners , organisations from other faiths and non-faith based organisations.
